Wizard of Oz Airs Tonight in AK!
Watch The Wizard of Oz Tonight on MeTV Alaska!
For decades, the annual television broadcast of MGM’s 1939 masterpiece The Wizard of Oz served as a cherished cultural milestone for families across America. Beginning in 1956, this special once-a-year event transformed living rooms into vibrant journeys over the rainbow, predating the era of home video and streaming. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion return to Alaska Friday and Saturday October 2nd & 3rd courtesy of MeTV Alaska and it’s Alaskan-Owned sponsors. Journey down the yellow brick road was a rare, anticipated ritual that united generations through shared wonder and nostalgia.
After a remarkably long absence from free, broadcast television, this treasured cinematic tradition has triumphantly returned. Viewers can once again experience the magic together as the timeless fantasy is broadcast for special network presentations, capturing the enchantment of the classic film just as it was meant to be experienced, live and communally.
Grab some popcorn and follow the yellow brick road! Viewers across Alaska are invited to tune in to MeTV Alaska this Friday and Saturday at 6:00 PM Alaska time to catch this wonderful annual tradition. Don't miss your chance to experience the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz right from your living room! Find MeTV Alaska on Channel 33.3 over the air in Anchorage and Matsu, on Dish on Channel 38 (and Channel 51 in Southeast), on Direct TV across Alaska on Channel 33.3, and over the air via Rabbit ears in Southeast.
